A fishing public service announcement…

03.13.07

I just watched the clip I am going to link to below and was reminded of our trip Sunday when Mike snagged a #$#%^$# abandoned trot line. I have no real issue with people that use a trot line properly; we used to do it all the time back in Illinois…but we checked them often and pulled them out when before going home.

Sunday though, we got to risk significant injury because someone set a trot line and just left it there- it’s gone now, you can be sure.

Anyway, here is clip from ‘Down Under’ that I thought was a pretty neat story…and also sad at the same time as it demonstrates why we need to take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but a wake whereever we fish, or boat whether we are doing it for pleasure or profit.

Sunday, sunny Sunday…

A little late posting this, I guess, but Sunday Forest, Mike and I hit the river in the raft for the maiden voyage. Things went well from the boat’s perspective and I discovered some adjustments that I need to make- namely purchasing some oar rights to hold the oars in position correctly as it made it tough to accurately row.

It was a beautiful day to be on the water, which made it not as great to fish, but Forest was able to pull in a 19-1/2 inch smallie and Mike caught anothe smallie and a walleye. Not bad considering the fish were really not on.

Here is Forest’s smallie- note the Greasy Creek Outfitters cap; it makes all the difference on a slow day of fishing!

I also suffered a near tragedy when my very much more than inexpensive camera got wet and quit working. I pulled the battery and allowed it to dry out over night and it is back like nothing happened. If anyone has suggestions on a waterproof case let me know, but I think I may take Forests advice in the near future on his camera which takes great pics, is less expensive than mine and darned near waterproof.
