New Cabin at Meadowood

06.29.06

We now have another cabin available for rental- Weather Hill Cabin. This is a beautifully maintained secluded cabin just a few minutes from Meadowood. Take a look at the pictures and description by clicking here.

We will also have another cottage in the same area available in July, so keep checking back.

What a ton of rain!

06.29.06

We weren’t left out of the massive amount of precipitation to hit the East Coast this past week; we got enough water to thoroughly tear our driveway apart.

Still though, having to move dirt around with the tractor is much easier than what others are dealing with.

Time away…

Ok, I haven’t written in a while- been pretty busy with some consulting work and designing another website on the side.

Anyway, I saw a mother turkey and about 6 chicks a couple of times on the parkway and we have a snapping turtle that is digging out a nest to lay eggs in on the front lawn. I still need to finish off the terrace, but I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had the time!

Hopefully I’ll get some time in the next few weeks!

Whooptie do, Hoopty is new!

Ok, I’m goofy and I know that. Anyway, recognizing you have a problem is the first step, right? Anyway, Meadowood has a new ‘family member’, a 1985 Subaru GL wagon that is due to arrive any minute now. Through the Floyd ‘Freecycle’ site, someone offered it up as needing a transmission and I just couldn’t resist. Some people think its strange and others normal that people get attached to their cars. I am one of the latter group. Because of this affiliation, I can proudly say that our vehicles rarely ever break down. When you get attached to something, you take care of it and when you take care of it, it takes care of you, right?

This particular car was bought brand new by a father who later sold it to his son who retired it to buy a brand new Subaru. He didn’t want to see the car parted out so he offered it free of charge to whomever wanted it. Since I’ve always heard good things about them and I love tinkering, I took it. It needs a transmission which I’ve already located and will need a lot of tlc, but it will end up being a valued staff member, I am sure.

Now for the ‘Hoopty’ part. As I am told a friend of their family once gave the car the moniker “The Family Hoopty” and it stuck. Since they have taken to calling it ‘Hoopty’ so will I. I will use this category to chronicle the saga of “Hoopty”.

Trying something new…

I just installed an event calendar to the blog so it will change the look of it somewhat. If you look at the bottom of the sidebar, you will see the Events listing and can click on the individual events for more information. You can also click on the category ‘Events’ and see all posts relating to upcoming activities.

I’m not sure that I will like this format, but it will make it easier for searching specific months and dates, plus I can add events to the future.

Let me know what you all think!
