Hello! I just got the blogs installed and running so I thought I would put in a first post here.
The idea behind the Meadowood blogs is to offer an occasional insight into life here at Meadowood and share our experiences. We feel very blessed to be able to live where we do and we like to share stories!
As you can see by the date of the blog entry, we are in the midst of autumn here. The leaves are falling but surprisingly still on the trees. The days have been getting cold and the nights even colder to the point where we need to have a fire in the stove all the time. It is a wonderous experience to watch the world slowly going to sleep as winter plods toward us. Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be upon us and Christmas is not too far away.
The critters are working hard to fatten up and prepare for the winter as well; the bird feeders are raided by raccoons and opposums daily now. The rabbits are in force here; I hear them crashing through the leaves just after dark when I walk out to my office and I have one that I see daily right behind my office door. He sits and watches me, letting me get within five feet or so before tearing up the hill.
In a few days the Winter Wonderland special will be in force which, business-wise anyway, signals the start of winter here. We look forward to sharing the warmth of our woodstove with the guests to come!
