I got to thinking about the ‘great’ work they did on the driveway and it occurs to me that they actually cost us money! See, land around here is running at about $10,000 per acre and before I had them fix the driveway I would gain about a quarter acre every time it rained because the drive would slide out into the road- now it stays where it is!
All kidding aside, I can’t be happier with the drive now; we got a load of gravel to put on the soft spots created where the old asphalt was torn up and since the driveway properly drains off to the sides now, there is no worry of the gravel bouncing along on top of the asphalt (were it still there) anyway.
I’m just glad to finally have the driveway done right instead of just covered up. As time goes on, it will only get better and better as we slowly add more gravel, get it bedded in, add a little more, get it bedded in and have the guys come back from time to time to tweak it and keep it working right.
